MTA Bridges and Tunnels carries approximately 800,000 vehicles per day, or more than 300 million vehicles per year, through a network of seven bridges and two tunnels in New York City, making it the largest tolling agency by traffic volume in the nation. It is a component of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of the State of New York, which operates the largest and busiest public transportation network in the Western Hemisphere, consisting of the New York City Subway, Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad, Staten Island Railway, and buses and paratransit vehicles in New York City. The MTA network of trains, buses, bridges, and tunnels moves more than 9 million people each weekday.
