OmniAir Global Plugfest is the premiere testing event for connected vehicle technologies, bringing together V2X Device Manufacturers, Government officials interested in deploying certified technology, Automotive OEMs and Tier One Suppliers, Engineering Firms and Systems Integrators, Infrastructure Owner-Operators, V2X Test Laboratories, and V2X Test Tool Providers from around the world.
This year’s event will feature a remote testing format, with conformance, interoperability, security, and field testing at leading test laboratories across Asia, Europe, and North America.
As part of this event, OmniAir will host a Virtual Connected Vehicle Workshop, and technical learning sessions. Participants will have the opportunity to tune in to content from industry experts and thought leaders in the form of fireside chats, panels, unique presentations, and keynotes all from the comfort of their home office. They will also have the opportunity to participate in virtual networking, to connect with industry professionals from across the globe.
The OmniAir Global Plugfest, is a multi-week testing event with a focus on cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) testing. There also remains a component for continued testing of dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) devices.
The primary objective of the Global Plugfest is to evaluate our alpha set of test cases developed for OmniAir’s C-V2X certification program for roadside-units (RSU) and onboard-units (OBU), to be launched later this year.
Each week OmniAir technical staff and participating OmniAir Authorized Test Lab (OATL) personnel, along with a combination of test equipment provided by OmniAir member companies, will perform tests for our members and strategic partners. V2X device makers can choose to send their connected vehicle devices to any participating testing site, where they will have the option to attend in person, experience device testing through virtual witnessing via video platform, or arrange a consultation to discuss results.
Upon completion of event registration, OmniAir will provide participants with shipping instructions, as well as instructions for testing. Like all Plugfest events, this event will be cooperative, and all V2X devices can be tested at each hub.
The OmniAir Global Plugfest will offer the following testing for conformance, interoperability, and security in both lab and field environments. In collaboration with the City of Austin, we have the unique opportunity to conduct field testing in a live traffic environment on the streets of downtown.
To register a device for testing, please contact Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development.
There are two active testing hubs each week over a three week period. V2X device makers will have the opportunity to have their units tested at each hub, by OmniAir, OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories and OmniAir Qualified Test Equipment and OmniAir member test equipment.
Shipping instructions will be provided to participants upon completion of event registration. Instructions will be determined based on testing needs and desired testing location. Please plan to have all devices arrive at your desired testing location at least one week prior to the scheduled start of testing.
For more information, or to register a device for testing, please contact Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Over the past twelve months, OmniAir’s members have developed the first comprehensive set of test cases for C-V2X (PC5) radios, based on industry standards. These include new test cases for On-Board Units (OBU) and Roadside Units (RSUs). Many test cases are based on existing test specifications for OmniAir’s existing certification program for DSRC-V2X radios.
