OmniAir Lone star Plugfest

Austin, Texas

april 27 – May 1

Update on OmniAir Lone Star Plugfest

Twice a year, OmniAir looks forward to hosting our members from around the world at our OmniAir Plugfests.  These events provide an unparalleled opportunity for V2X device manufacturers to engage in week-long interoperability, conformance, and security testing with leading test labs and test equipment providers from around the world.

However, considering the current Coronavirus/COVD-19 outbreak, we are postponing our OmniAir Lone Star Plugfest, which had been scheduled for the week of April 27-May 1 in Austin, TX.

OmniAir Consortium’s top priority is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of our members, attendees, and staff.  In consultation with our event partners and given the developing and evolving nature of the COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak, we have decided that postponing the event is the correct course of action.

Like the Connected Vehicle industry itself, OmniAir is a global organization.  Our members come from over 26 countries around the world. Over 50% of OmniAir’s members are based outside of North America.  We take our responsibility to ensure the health and safety of this community seriously.

OmniAir is working with event partners to set a new date for the OmniAir Lone Star Plugfest, with a target for this summer. We will announce new date within the next two weeks. Please consult our website for further updates.

We are grateful to our members and partners who have invested time and money to support this event. Thank you for your understanding.

We look forward to seeing all of you this summer.

Jason M. Conley

Executive Director

OmniAir Consortium is thrilled to welcome members and guests to the vibrant city of Austin, TX!

Austin, the state capital of Texas, is an inland city bordering the Hill Country region. Home to the University of Texas flagship campus, Austin, dubbed the Live Music Capital of the World®, is known for its eclectic live-music scene centered around country, blues and rock. Its many parks and lakes are popular for hiking, biking, swimming and boating.

We are confident that you will enjoy the OmniAir Lone Star Plugfest activities as much as the sights and sounds of the city!

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS)  is the closest airport to the event. International guests arriving at  Dallas/Forth Worth International (DFW) are 220 miles north of Austin  and those traveling to Houston/George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) are 170 miles east of Austin and must rent a vehicle or take a shuttle.

NXP Semiconductors will be home to the Lone Star Plugfest!  NXP is located 10 miles from downtown Austin at:  6501 W William Cannon Drive, Austin, TX 78735.

For those testing, OmniAir Plugfests are the premier testing event for Connected Vehicles technologies. These week-long events provide an opportunity to test V2X devices, in both lab and time field environments, with leading laboratories and test equipment providers from around the world.

The Lone Star Plugfest will offer testing for conformance, interoperability, and security in both lab and field environments. With the City of Austin hosting we have a unique opportunity to conduct field testing in a live traffic environment on the streets of downtown!

V2X devices will be tested against the following:

  • Radio testing for C-V2X PC5 and DSRC
  • Conformance testing against OmniAir specifications for DSRC
  • Conformance testing against existing OmniAir specifications for C-V2X
  • BSM Performance & Location Accuracy Testing for DSRC
  • BSM Drive Comparison Testing for DSRC and possibly C-V2X
  • SCMS Security Certificate Testing (including new OmniAir security test cases)
  • Reference Device Testing Availability for Certified DSRC Device with Stakeholder (limit two total)

Guests of the OmniAir Lone Star Plugfest will notice a fresh format that will provide more learning and networking opportunities for those not engaged in testing. Guided tours of Austin’s V2X testbeds, hands-on learning sessions and technology demonstrations will be offered on both sides of the main policy conference. The policy conference is a full-day event that will take place mid-week, on Wednesday, April 29.
