OmniAir Consortium®, the leading, global industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles announces our eighth OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory (OATL). The Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) passed an exhaustive audit and is the second test laboratory to earn this status in Korea.

TTA is the latest OATL to test Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) based onboard-unit (OBU) devices. TTA’s test facility is located in one of Korea’s largest industrial centers, and home to the Samsung Electronics R&D center in Suwon, Korea just 19 miles south of Seoul. TTA is strategically positioned to service the growing need to certify critical lifesaving technology for connected and autonomous vehicles.

“OmniAir has expanded our global network of test laboratories with five laboratories located across North America, one in Europe, and now two in Korea, said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir. “As the need for global certification grows, OmniAir is able to meet that demand and we hope to add two more OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory’s by the end of the year.”

OmniAir’s certification program provides third-party accredited laboratory testing and validation of DSRC-based vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) devices to ensure that device manufacturers, suppliers, and automotive OEMs entering the V2X market develop products that conform to industry protocol standards and specifications, to bring about trusted device communications.

OmniAir Consortium brings together leading automotive, ITS and technology stakeholders for the express purpose of advancing wireless communications used in transportation. OmniAir and its members have worked collaboratively with transportation stakeholders to develop requirements and specifications for both tolling and connected vehicles.

First launched in 2017, OmniAir’s DSRC-V2X certification program is the first of its kind in the world, offering conformance and interoperabiity testing for DSRC-based V2V and V2I devices. OmniAir also offers certification for RFID tags and readers used in electronic toll collection systems across the United States, as well as DSRC based onboard units (OBUs) and roadside units (RSUs).
