OmniAir Consortium and the Intelligent Transport Society of Korea (ITS Korea) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining areas for collaboration to advance the testing and certification of cellular vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) technologies in the Asia-Pacific region.
The agreement signed by ITS Korea Executive Director, Kyoung-Hwon KIM, and OmniAir Executive Director, Jason Conley, is focused on promoting conformance and interoperability of C-V2X technologies in Korea.
“This landmark MOU lays the foundation for a strong partnership between ITS Korea and OmniAir Consortium, focused on the deployment of trusted C-V2X equipment in Korea and around the world,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir. “Our goal is to promote interoperability and the growth of a global market for connected vehicles and connected infrastructure technologies.”
The MOU details areas of potential joint activity, including:
Conducting one more joint Korea-based Plugfest testing events for C-V2X technologies.
Use of OmniAir test specifications for use in certification of devices for the Korean market.
Joint identification of standards and protocols in support of interoperability and conformance in Korea.
Joint identification of candidate test labs in Korea as potential OmniAir Authorized Test labs.
Cooperation to align U.S. and Korean interoperability conformance and certification programs.
Formation of a joint Connected Vehicle working group, as well as an executive-level Cooperation Committee, comprised of representative members from each organization.
This agreement updates the original MOU from November 13, 2018. The organizations have also entered into a separate license agreement which addresses the use of OmniAir test specifications for C-V2X testing and certification in Korea.
