OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, is announcing the launch of a new working group, focused on developing a new certification program for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) based tolling and in-vehicle payment systems.
Since 2012, OmniAir® has offered independent, third-party testing and certification for electronic toll collection tags and readers. OmniAir has since expanded its certification programs to include connected-vehicle onboard equipment, roadside units, and modules.
This new initiative will build on this experience to offer an independent, third-party testing and certification for V2X tolling, ensuring compliance with SAE J3217 and other relevant industry standards. Interoperability, security, and field performance testing will also be part of the new program.
OmniAir’s V2X Tolling Working Group will help to ensure the availability of trusted and interoperable V2X-based tolling solutions for nationwide deployment. This new Working Group will bring together experts from tolling agencies, automotive OEMs, equipment manufacturers, test laboratories, and testing experts from around the world.

Pooja Dwivedi, National Toll Technology leader with HNTB, will chair the working group. With more than 15 years of experience in tolling system integration, testing, and operations, Pooja has helped agencies and technology providers across the country translate complex requirements into practical, reliable solutions. She also has a strong background in connected vehicle research, reflecting her ongoing commitment to advancing real-world mobility innovation.
Kickoff Meeting — All Are Welcome!
The V2X Tolling Working Group’s kickoff meeting will be held on April 29 at 2 pm EDT. The kickoff is open to all interested parties on a trial basis, offering an opportunity to learn more about the group’s objectives, structure, and 2026 priorities.
