OmniAir members and partners played a prominent role during a national policy forum held July 1 at Korea's National Assembly Members' Office Building, where government, industry and academic leaders examined the digital infrastructure needed to support safer autonomous driving.
Hosted by National Assembly Member Song Gi-heon, the forum, "Digital Infrastructure Policy Challenges for Safer Autonomous Driving," was co-organized by CODIT's Global Policy Verification Institute, the Korea C-ITS Industry Alliance (KCITSA) and ITS Korea, an OmniAir partner through a longstanding memorandum of understanding. Approximately 100 representatives from government, industry, academia, and research organizations attended.
Three OmniAir member companies contributed to the discussion from an industry perspective.
Choi Kwang-ju, CEO of IT Telecom Co. Ltd. and chair of the V2X Communications Committee at the Korean Society of Intelligent Transport Systems, emphasized that improving safety for both automated and conventional vehicles requires policy support for connected digital infrastructure and broader deployment of V2X technologies.
Jeong Hong-jong, CEO of Wayties Inc. and president of the Korea C-ITS Industry Alliance, described V2X communications as a critical component of AI-enabled transportation infrastructure. He noted that connected infrastructure complements vehicle sensors by providing advanced awareness of roadway conditions and highlighted how the United States and Europe continue integrating V2X with AI and cloud-based transportation systems.
Hojun Kim, CEO of Ettifos, joined industry leaders, government representatives and mobility experts as a panelist. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration between industry, academia and policymakers to advance V2X technologies and enable a safer, more connected transportation ecosystem.
Forum participants also discussed the evolution of Korea's connected transportation strategy, including expanded V2X evaluation criteria, AI-enabled infrastructure and the challenges of deploying connected transportation systems at a national scale.

Forums like this demonstrate the value of collaboration among industry, government and academia as we work toward a connected transportation ecosystem."
The forum highlights the growing leadership of OmniAir members, led by KCITSA, and the continued collaboration between OmniAir and ITS Korea. The discussion also sets the stage for continued engagement at the ITS World Congress in Gangneung this October, where OmniAir and its members will help advance global conversations on interoperable V2X technologies, digital infrastructure and connected transportation. As governments and industry continue investing in connected mobility, these partnerships will play an important role in accelerating the deployment of safe, interoperable transportation systems worldwide.
