OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announces it will host the OmniAir® Michigan Plugfest the week of June 14-18 in Michigan.  This year’s event will, for the first time, focus exclusively on cellular vehicle to everything (C-V2X) technologies.

OmniAir Plugfests are the premiere testing event for connected vehicles, bringing together leading automotive OEMs, device manufacturers, test laboratories, and test equipment providers for a week-long testing event. This year’s event will feature both in-person and remote testing, allowing participation from any place in the world.

The OmniAir Michigan Plugfest will be hosted by OmniAir member, Danlaw, Inc., a world leader in connected car and automotive electronics.  Laboratory testing will take place at their corporate headquarters in Novi, Michigan.

“These events are a great opportunity to demonstrate the maturity of V2X technology and its potential to save so many lives”, said Tom Rzeznik, President and CEO of Danlaw, Inc.  “This is the second time that Danlaw is hosting Plugfest, and we are excited to once again showcase our products, facilities, and staff to our industry peers.”

Field testing will take place at the Mcity Test Facility in nearby Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mcity, affiliated with the University of Michigan, features state-of-the-art facilities for Connected and Automated (CAV) testing.

The event will follow a hybrid meeting format allowing for limited in-person gathering, in addition to device testing through virtual witnessing via a video platform. V2X device makers unable to attend in-person have the option to ship their device(s) and experience device testing through virtual witnessing or to arrange a consultation to discuss results.  This format will allow for greater participation while adhering to current recommended safety guidelines.

OmniAir Consortium and its event partners are committed to supporting a safe experience.  The health and safety of all event participants are our top priority.

“We are excited to bring the next OmniAir Plugfest to Michigan, the undisputed global leader in mobility technologies,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir.  “OmniAir Plugfests provide an opportunity for device manufacturers to prepare for certification testing, working with some of the leading V2X experts from around the world.”

The primary objective of the Michigan Plugfest is to evaluate the readiness of V2X devices and test tools based on OmniAir’s Release 1 test cases developed for OmniAir’s C-V2X certification program for roadside-units (RSU) and onboard-units (OBU).  OmniAir is launching the world’s first comprehensive certification program for C-V2X and expects to begin accepting certification applications next month.

The OmniAir Michigan Plugfest will offer the following testing for conformance, interoperability, and security in both lab and field environments.

  • Radio testing for LTE-V2X (C-V2X PC5) On-Board Units (OBU)
  • Radio testing for LTE-V2X (C-V2X PC5) Roadside Units (RSU)
  • Upper Layer Conformance testing against OmniAir specifications for LTE-V2X (C-V2X PC5)
  • BSM Performance & Location Accuracy Testing for LTE-V2X (C-V2X PC5) and for DSRC (upon advance request)
  • BSM Application Drive Comparison Testing for LTE-V2X (C-V2X PC5)
  • SCMS Security Certificate and Multi-source Certificate Interoperability Testing

Registration is now open!  Space is limited so participants are encouraged to reserve their space soon.  Registrants may bring up to two devices for testing, as well as testing teams of up to two engineers (on-site). Registrants may participate in remote or on-site testing or both.  Each ticket affords up to two devices.

OmniAir Members who register before April 23 will enjoy a $500 discount using the code OMNIAIRMEMBER, plus an additional $500 credit toward Fall 2021 Plugfest registration.

Please contact Ryan Hall, Senior Director – Business Development and Marketing, for corporate sponsorship opportunities.

OmniAir Offers Testing for C-V2X Devices Québec Plugfest

OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, Tolling and Connected Vehicles, will be working with test equipment vendors Keysight Technologies, Rohde & Schwarz and Spirent to offer comprehensive C-V2X testing for the first time at their upcoming Québec Plugfest.

Keysight Technologies brings their N9020B MXA Signal Analyzer and N5182B MXG Vector Signal Generator for Physical Layer (Non-Signaling) testing on the C-V2X PC5 Sidelink; allowing them to perform 3GPP test cases to verify the performance of C-V2X devices meets requirements. For more information on Keysight Technologies’ recently announced SA8700A C-V2X Signaling Test Solution based on the E7515B UXM-5G Test Set including an integrated ITS Stack and easy traffic scenario generator SW in partnership with Nordsys, please visit: www.keysight.com

Rohde & Schwarz will bring test equipment that is designed to test the entire C-V2X stack; from PHY through APP layers. C-V2X device makers attending will have a unique opportunity to test end-to-end scenarios like transmission of basic safety messages and Emergency Electronic Brake Light (EEBL) over PC5 interface. Rohde & Schwarz’s latest C-V2X test solution is comprised of the CMW500, SMBV100 and Vector’s CANoe Car2X software. The test station is capable of generating a few hundred vehicles thereby simulating real life scenarios like road intersections and congestion on a freeway. This versatile test setup also supports GCF protocol conformance testing specified in work items 281 (V2V) & 282 (V2X). www.rohde-schwarz.com

Spirent is bringing their TTsuite WAVE-CV2X test solution for WAVE signalling protocols (SAE J2735 and IEEE1609.3, IEEE1609.2) over 3GPP PC5 sidelink interface. Spirent test solution supports fully automated test execution using the TCI interface in the same TTworkbench environment used successfully at OmniAir Plugfests for testing conformance to DSRC signalling protocol (certification). The system includes a Spirent GNSS simulator that is controlled by the test system to simulate mobility for application testing. https://www.spirent.com/

We invite you to join us in Québec, if you have not purchased a device testing ticket, but plan to attend, please download the device profile form and submit it to Randy Roebuck, Omni Air’s Vice President of Engineering & Technology Programs, as soon as possible. The last day to purchase a device testing ticket is Wednesday, May 1.  Question about attending the Plugfest may be directed Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Who Should Attend?

  • DSRC and C-V2X device manufacturers interested applying for OmniAir Certification.
  • Government officials interested in deploying OmniAir Certified™ vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) technology
  • Automotive OEMs and Tier One suppliers interested in certification for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) technology
  • Engineering and consulting firms interested in learning about connected vehicle deployment opportunities in Québec and across Canada

This week-long event, hosted by Propulsion Québec, will feature a Connected Vehicle Policy Conference, followed by four days of intensive device testing with leading test laboratories and test equipment providers.
