OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification, announces that Woody Kim, Technical Director at Saesol Tech, has been appointed to lead the OmniAir® Cybersecurity Sub-Working Group (CSsWG). He is tasked to develop a series of test cases as part of OmniAir’s connected vehicle certification program.

Woody Kim brings 22 years of experience planning, designing, and developing technology solutions for the automotive, battery, and cybersecurity industries. Woody has a Bachelor of Science from POSTECH, Pohang University of Science and Technology, majoring in Computer Science.

“Secured V2X communications through certificate management is essential,” said, Jason Conley, Executive Director. “OmniAir is confident that Woody Kim of Saesol Tech has the skill set to successfully lead this effort.”

The 1609.2.1 standard specifies certificate management protocols to support the provisioning and management of digital certificates to authorize application activities. This group will develop specific test cases that will allow for certification testing of the latest standards for security. 1609.2.1 is based on a CAMP (Crash Avoidance Metrics Partnership) developed protocol. The CAMP protocol will be retired as the group focuses on the move toward MBD (Misbehavior Detection), CRL (Certificate Revocation List) and CTL (Certificate Trust List) test cases.

The working group will identify services that can be used to protect messages from attacks such as eavesdropping, spoofing, alteration, and replay. These services make use of digital certificates. They will also utilize OmniAir’s Test Control Interface (TCIv3) and SCMS Manager publications as standardized interfaces for requesting, obtaining, and managing these certificates significantly assist the deployment of the system.

OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, and our host, DEKRA encourage interested parties to register for the Connected Mobility Workshop on Tuesday, October 25 at the Promalaga Excelencia Conference Center at 27 Calle Steve Jobs 29590 Málaga Spain.

This event will feature leading government and industry experts who will offer insights on current and future trends in connected mobility. There are feature panel discussions and presentations on the testing and deployment of connected vehicle and infrastructure technologies.

OmniAir’s Connected Mobility Workshop is held in conjunction with the OmniAir Costa del Sol Plugfest testing event (Oct 24-28). OmniAir Plugfests are the premier testing events for connected vehicles, consisting of extensive week-long conformance and interoperability testing both in the laboratory and field.

The Costa del Sol Plugfest is the first event to offer field, bench, and applications testing across North American, European and Chinese specifications for C-V2X-connected vehicle technologies.

Who should attend?

The connected vehicle ecosystem comprises device manufacturers, tier-one suppliers, OEMs, deploying agencies, chipset manufacturers, test laboratories, test equipment providers, and others interested in contributing to developing a robust certification program for V2X communications. Government officials interested in deploying V2I technology are highly encouraged to attend to learn firsthand about the value that OmniAir Certification adds to their projects and deployments.

OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announces that Transcore, a pioneer in the use of RFID in the toll industry, has earned OmniAir Certification® for its Encompass® 6 Multiprotocol Reader.

As more and more municipalities and states add electronic toll systems to highways, bridges, and tunnels, and convert HOV lanes to HOT lanes, having a transponder that can go “anywhere” the vehicle goes is a significant benefit for both drivers and commercial transportation companies, said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir®. “OmniAir Certification provides assurance to deploying agencies that devices conform to industry standards and meet minimum interoperability and performance requirements.”

TransCore’s Multiprotocol Reader is a fully integrated, self-contained 915 MHz wireless radio frequency identification (RFID) reader designed for high-performance open road tolling and certified for the ISO/IEC 18000-63 (6C) protocol.

OmniAir Certification offers independent, third-party testing and certification for RFID tolling tags and readers, as well as connected vehicle technologies, including both C-V2X and DSRC OBUs and RSUs.
