OmniAir Welcomes NI as our Newest Member
OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announced that NI has joined OmniAir as an Associate-Level Member.
NI, formerly National Instruments Corporation, is a provider of software-defined platforms that help accelerate automated test and measurement systems’ development and performance. NI’s focus on research, prototyping, validation, and collaboration with test equipment providers is a perfect complement to further OmniAir’s certification program.
Through their collaboration with OmniAir member S.E.A. Datentechnik GmbH (S.E.A.), they are solving two critical industry needs – developing a portable radio packet capture (sniffer) tool and a complete C-V2X test system for testing C-V2X radios. NI has helped maximize S.E.A.’s test systems’ full potential by providing a software-defined approach to help automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers validate the readiness of their C-V2X devices before formally entering OmniAir’s C-V2X certification program.
“We are excited to welcome NI as the newest OmniAir member,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir Consortium. “NI is a recognized global leader in providing testing solutions. Their deep expertise in V2X and automotive testing will help OmniAir advance its certification programs for connected vehicles.”
OmniAir is eager to see their test systems in the hands of OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories (OATL), OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and deploying agencies. These test systems will be utilized during the upcoming OmniAir Michigan Plugfest, June 14-18. Contact Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Business Development to learn more about the Michigan Plugfest and how you can have your C-V2X device tested by these systems.

Headquartered in Berea, Ohio, the Ohio Turnpike’s traffic has grown from 44,000 vehicles using the facility on opening day in 1955, to nearly 55 million vehicle trips per year today. In 1956, the first full year of operation, some 10 million cars and trucks used the Ohio Turnpike.
“OmniAir is excited to add the Ohio Turnpike to its growing list of innovative leaders in the transportation industry,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “OmniAir looks forward to their contributions to our working groups, especially our forward-looking tolling and emerging payments working group.”
“The Ohio Turnpike continues to innovate and is constructing an all-new Open Road Tolling system between now and 2023,” said Ohio Turnpike Executive Director Ferzan M. Ahmed, P.E. “The modernized system will allow motorists with E-ZPass transponders to use gateless entry and exit lanes, allowing customers to travel more efficiently through the toll plazas.”
As a part of their environmental initiatives and spirit of innovation, the Commission is in the process of gathering information about potential solar energy projects to generate clean power for the Commission’s facilities. It also has four electric vehicle charging stations and is in the process of implementing even more across the 241-mile tollway.
