The beginning of the year is a great time to volunteer for an OmniAir Working Group.  We are looking for committed transportation and technology professionals to help us to advance interoperability and shape OmniAir’s testing and certification programs.

With the FCC’s publication of final technical rules for C-V2X and more states, cities, and tolling agencies planning or deploying connected vehicle, digital infrastructure, and tolling projects, this promises to be an exciting year for the transportation industry!

OmniAir is committed to supporting trusted, interoperable deployments through our testing and certification programs for V2X and tolling.  OmniAir Working Groups have set out an ambitious program of work for 2025 to help facilitate nationwide interoperable connectivity.

Now is the time to get involved!

Key priorities for 2025 include:

  • Defining J3217/R tests for V2X-based RUC
  • 825-OA Tag Programming (RFID)
  • Developing a test scope for 3rd party tolling applications

Aftermarket V2X Devices

  • Develop test cases for conformance with SAE J3315 AVD Specification
  • Define a framework for device profiles
  • Track development of SAE J5001 OBU standard

Infrastructure

  • Finalize CTI 4001 (RSU) Test Specification
  • Sensors / Sensor Data Sharing Message (SDSM) –SAE J3224
  • Explore Network V2X / Virtual RSUs

OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), tolling, and connected vehicles, is excited to announce the certification of the Commsignia C-ITS-RS4-M Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) roadside unit (RSU).

OmniAir Certified® devices undergo rigorous testing for conformance to industry standards, as well as interoperability, performance, and security requirements. Every day, infrastructure owner-operators (IOOs) rely on OmniAir’s independent, third-party testing and certification programs to ensure the availability of trusted communications equipment for V2X and tolling deployments.

This RSU meets OmniAir’s LTE-V2X (RSU) Release 1 Conformance test specifications, based on state-of-the-art technology standards for connected vehicles and transportation environments.

“Congratulations to Commsignia for earning OmniAir Certification,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “As we approach the New Year, our commitment to supporting the industry continues to grow stronger. This certification reflects our ongoing hard work to ensure the availability of trusted equipment that will accelerate nationwide, interoperable V2X deployment.”

The Commsignia C-ITS-RS4-M RSU was tested at DEKRA, an OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory in Málaga, Spain, using OmniAir Qualified Test Equipment from Keysight Technologies.

OmniAir provides independent, third-party testing and certification through a network of accredited test laboratories, utilizing qualified test systems and validated test cases. OmniAir is the only organization to offer full-stack testing and certification for C-V2X OBUs, RSUs, and modules.
