OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), tolling, and connected vehicles, announces the award of the first OmniAir Certification for a C-V2X roadside unit (RSU) for deployment within the United States to Cohda Wireless, for their MK6 RSU.

OmniAir Certified® devices are tested for conformance to industry standards, as well as interoperability, performance, and security requirements.  Every day, infrastructure owner-operators (IOO’s) rely on OmniAir’s independent, third-party testing and certification programs to ensure the availability of trusted communications equipment for V2X and tolling deployments.

This RSU conforms to OmniAir’s LTE-V2X (RSU) Release 1 Conformance test specifications.   These industry-developed test cases are based on state-of-the-art technology standards for connected vehicles and transportation environments.

“Congratulations to Cohda Wireless for being the first to achieve OmniAir Certification for a C-V2X RSU under the FCC Waiver,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “OmniAir is committed to supporting the deployment of trusted, interoperable, and certified V2X technologies to improve road safety in the United States and throughout the world. This milestone will allow for the deployment of C-V2X technologies within the 5.895-5.925 GHz band to support intelligent transportation systems (ITS) operations.”

The Cohda Wireless RSU was tested at the DEKRA, an OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory located in Málaga, Spain. DEKRA utilized OmniAir Qualified Test Equipment from Keysight Technology and Spirent.

OmniAir offers independent, third-party testing and certification for C-V2X radios and modules through a network of accredited test laboratories. These laboratories employ qualified test equipment and validated test cases. Please visit our website for more information about OmniAir’s certification programs.
