OmniAir Consotrium® Plugfests are the premier testing events for Connected Vehicles. These week-long events, provide an opportunity to test V2X devices, in both lab and field environments, with leading laboratories and test equipment providers from around the world. Participation in OmniAir Plugfests are strongly encouraged for any C-V2X vendors considering applying for OmniAir Certification.

In conjunction with the OmniAir® Costa del Sol Plugfest, OmniAir is offering a one-day workshop on advancing the connected mobility ecosystem. This in-person workshop will address key technical and policy issues and will be held on Tuesday, October 25. Guests will also have a tour of the testing activities, live demonstrations, and, an evening networking reception.

V2X Testing offered

The Costa del Sol Plugfest will test LTE-V (C-V2X PC5) devices for conformance, interoperability, and security in both lab and field environments. Devices under test will have access to comprehensive testing of the following test cases provided by OmniAir staff, member test laboratory, test equipment, and PKI provider personnel.

Getting around Malaga/Additional Info

Málaga is located in the South of Spain in the Andalusia region. It is the capital city of the Costa del Sol (Sun Coast) and has great weather most of the year. The city has a rich, historic heritage dating back to its Phoenician roots, the Roman and Muslim periods and the splendorous Renaissance and Baroque centuries. 

Málaga International Airport (AGP) is the main port of entrance to the city.


Alternatively, you can also consider travelling to Madrid (MAD) or Barcelona (BCN). Both cities are very well connected with Malaga. You can travel between Madrid and Malaga by plane but also by high-speed AVE train in about 2 hours only (consult rates and train times at and there are several daily flights between Barcelona and Málaga.


To get from Malaga Airport to the city centre


Malaga International Airport (AGP) is located 10 km to the East of the city. There are several ways to get from the airport to the city centre.


  • Taxi: The airport is very close to the city centre, so taxi is one of the best options. From the Arrivals lounge taxi rank, it takes 20 minutes approximately depending on the traffic conditions and cost around EUR 30. Uber is also available in Malaga.
  • Train: There is a very good connection from the airport to the city centre by train. It is reliable and very cheap. Follow the signs to the train station in front of the arrivals/departures lounges at terminal 3. From the airport take “Cercanias” train line C1 to Malaga city centre. It cost around EUR 2 it takes 8 minutes only. You must keep your ticket to get out of the train station at the end of the journey. You can consult the timetable at:
  • Public bus: Bus Line A runs from the airport to the city centre. It cost around EUR 2 only. Just follow the signs to the bus stop outside the Arrivals terminal. You can consult stops and the timetable at:
  • Rental or private cars: It is not advisable to rent a car if staying at Malaga downtown, although it is a good option if staying close to the Technological Park of Andalusia (PTA). Malaga city center is mostly pedestrian. Free parking is not possible at the city center. In any case, there are several public parkings (pay per use) and most hotels have private parking for their guests. In case you are finally renting a car, please consult your hotel for parking availability and parking fees.

To get from Malaga city centre to the Technological Park of Andalusia (PTA)


The Technological Park of Andalusia (PTA) is located about 15 km from the city centre. There are several transport options available:


  • Taxi: It is the most comfortable option and the best if travelling in pairs or in groups. It takes 20 minutes approximately depending on the traffic conditions and cost around EUR 25-30.
  • Omniair Plugfest Courtesy Bus: A courtesy bus (optional) will pick up the participants at Malaga downtown at Hotel AC Malaga Palacio Stop and the NH Malaga Hotel if requested. It will go directly to the PTA and make a second stop at Posadas de España Malaga Hotel at the entrance of the PTA to pick up more participants. It will make a final stop at DEKRA Connected Car Test Area, the main venue of the Plugfest. This courtesy bus will be also available in the afternoon to take the participants back to the Posadas de España Hotel and to Malaga downtown.


  • Rental or private cars: There is available parking space besides DEKRA Connected Car Test Area’s facilities.

Senders are responsible for all fees related to sending its package, including freight fees, export fees, import fees, any taxes, duties or brokerage fees applicable, if any.

Sender is responsible for returning the items from DEKRA to its original location.

Sender shall make all the necessary arrangements with its usual shipping company and provide all the required paperwork.

At the closure of the event, the participant responsible of the item must leave it ready for shipment: that is, properly packaged, labelled and with all the required paperwork. The original packages will be stored during the Plugfest for its reutilization and if they are no longer usable, DEKRA will facilitate new ones.

The selected shipping company can collect them at DEKRA Main Building at Severo Ochoa, 2, 29590 Malaga from Tuesday,  November 1st.

DEKRA will not be responsible of returning any items and will not prepare any paperwork.

Complimentary internet access will be available at both DEKRA Connected Car Test Area and Promalaga Excelencia.

Coffee, tea, refreshments and snacks will be available during the Omniair Plugfest at DEKRA’s facilities.

There are plenty of museum and historic sites to discover Málaga’s ancient and important cultural heritage. Also Málaga is full of restaurants, tapas bars and terraces to discover the Andalusian and Mediterranean cuisine and to enjoy the Andalusian life style.


The area around Calle La Bolsa and Calle Strachan is well-known for its classy restaurants: La Reserva 12, El Rescoldo, La Coccotte, Gorki…

In calle Granada and its surroundings there are many typical and more affordable tapas restaurants as El Piyayo, La Campana, Casa Lola, Taberna Matahambre, El Faro de Orellana, Los Gatos… you will also find nice restaurants, such as Bodega el Patio where to enjoy a good paella.

An obligated visit is Bodega El Pimpi located in calle Granada with a second entrance in calle Alcazabilla. This is one of the most famous spots in Málaga and their sweet wine and tapas are famous.

Muelle Uno is a very nice promenade by the sea. You will find a shopping area open 7 days a week as well as many tapas bars and restaurants of Andalusian and international food with a wide range of prices.

Policy conference

Panels of leading technical and policy experts from around the world will explore technical and policy issues, including a panel on road usage charging (RUC) with a global perspective,  interoperability, cybersecurity, C-V2X for safety applications as well as sustainable transportation options. There are representatives from the Spanish Government, and local industry leaders along with connected mobility experts, and researchers, from the world.   There will be tours of the indoor bench and track testing along with special demonstrations from our sponsors will be offered to attendees and media representatives.
