The Federal Highway Administration has awarded a contract to OmniAir Consortium® for the “Assessment and Evolution of the Industry Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Device Certification Capabilities.”
The project will focus on ensuring alignment of OmniAir’s testing and certification programs for cellular vehicle-to-everything technologies (C-V2X). OmniAir currently offers certification for C-V2X roadside units (RSU), onboard units (OBU) and modules.
Under the contract, which has a 12-month period of performance, OmniAir will execute several key tasks in support of aligning our V2X certification programs with deployer needs:
The contract will also facilitate participation by U.S. Department of Transportation staff, and key deployer stakeholders in OmniAir Working Groups, and in OmniAir Plugfest testing events. OmniAir will also support FHWA’s own interoperability testing events and provide insights on industry trends and future testing needs for new and emerging V2X radio technology.
“OmniAir is committed to advancing the nationwide deployment of certified, secure, and interoperable V2X technology,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir. “We are looking forward to working with transportation leaders and stakeholders to help advance nationwide V2X deployment.”
