OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, has successfully concluded its first virtual Connected Vehicle Technical Workshop.
The virtual workshop, which was held in conjunction with the OmniAir® Global Plugfest, a more extensive multi-week V2X testing event, offered participants the opportunity to attend live panel sessions with government and industry leaders, and technology experts from around the world.
The event featured Keynote presenter, Katie Herbek, Head of Mobility Engagement for the Central / Mountain Region with Ford Motor Company. Katie kicked off the event on Monday morning and discussed Ford’s vision for deploying C-V2X globally. She also touched on Ford’s testing of C-V2X technology with the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority (CTRMA) in Austin, Texas, and their automated vehicle (AV) activity within the City of Austin.
Day two kicked off with a second keynote from Lars Reger, Chief Technology Officer for NXP Semiconductors. Lars offered a compelling vision for a future transportation system that is automated, connected, and electric.
Throughout the course of the three-day event, participants were actively engaged in approximately three hours of content in a fast-paced and engaging format. Workshop attendees learned about recent advances in V2X, C-V2X, CAV testing and deployments from thought leaders and technology experts worldwide.
For many, one of the best parts of attending an in-person conference is the opportunity to visit and network with colleagues. Although this conference was virtual, our guests gathered over coffee each morning during our ‘Morning Meetups’ to connect with colleagues and other transportation industry professionals in a comfortable and informal atmosphere, setting a positive tone for the day.
If you registered for the event you may log in to re-visit any panel you missed or would like to view again. Coming soon, visitors to the OmniAir website will be able to access session recordings and review individual presentations the week of October 19.
We would like to hear from you about your experience with the OmniAir Global Plugfest Connected Vehicle Technical Workshop via a quick two-minute survey that will help us to better understand what worked well and what we could improve upon. We appreciate your participation and feedback!
