OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announced that Harman International has joined OmniAir® as an Executive Level Member.

HARMAN International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., is focused on connected technologies for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets. Harman designs and engineers connected products and solutions for automakers, consumers, and enterprises worldwide, including connected car systems, audio and visual products, enterprise automation solutions, and services supporting the Internet of Things.

In February, HARMAN announced the acquisition of Savari, a Silicon Valley-based automotive technology company developing vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology in 5G Edge, multi-access edge computing (MEC), and intelligent infrastructure solutions.

“We are excited to have a recognized global leader in automotive technology like HARMAN International as an OmniAir Executive-Level Member,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “HARMAN’s expertise in advanced automotive mobility technologies will help OmniAir to advance its testing and certification programs for connected vehicles.”

OmniAir offers independent, third-party testing and certification for tolling and connected vehicles. In April, OmniAir is launching the world’s first comprehensive certification program for C-V2X (LTE-V2X PC5) radios.
