OmniAir Consortium®,  the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, Tolling and Connected Vehicles, has awarded OmniAir Certification to Lear Corporation for its  Locomate Roadstar  DSRC OnBoard Unit (OBU) for Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications.

“We are pleased to announce the first OmniAir Certified™ device of the New Year.  Congratulations to our member Lear Corporation for achieving OmniAir Certification,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir.  OmniAir Certification Release 1 ensures that V2X devices conform with designated industry standards and meet minimum interoperability and security requirements.

In 2017, Lear Corporation was selected by Wyoming Department of Transportation as its exclusive partner to supply advanced vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure Road Side Units (RSU) and On Board Units (OBU).  Wyoming is one of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s pilot sites for connected vehicles, with a focus on trucking and highway driving in advanced weather conditions.

V2X connected devices promise to deliver a safer commute, by providing information that helps drivers navigate around blind corners, bad weather, and poor lighting conditions.  V2X applications will significantly help to reduce congestion and lower emissions through optimized mobility and traffic coordination.

OmniAir Consortium certified devices, qualified test equipment/tools, and authorized test laboratories can be found and verified, including Lear’s Locomate Roadstar OBU, on our certified products catalog located at: www.omniair.org/certified-products/.
