OmniAir Developing Authorized Field Test Site Program

OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, is developing a Field Site Authorization Program (FSAP).

OmniAir is seeking inputs from members and relevant industry stakeholders on requirements for the new program.

OmniAir’s Connected Vehicle Certification Working Group, Chaired by OmniAir Board Member Frank Perry of WSP, is leading the effort. The FSAP is solving a problem and will enhance the ability of those OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories (OATL), who do not have access to suitable local areas, to conduct the field tests.

OmniAir is seeking input from industry and stakeholders to develop a program scope, identify requirements, and define the overall field site authorization process. Field sites must be authorized in order to be eligible to conduct field tests for OmniAir certification programs.

“To ensure that OmniAir delivers a program that meets the needs of industry, it is vital that OmniAir members participate in the working group,” said Frank Perry, Assistant Vice President, Connected and Automated Vehicles for WSP. “Our goal is to have the FSAP program manual completed by August and approved at the next Board of Directors Meeting in September.”

OmniAir’s goal is to have authorized field sites capable of performing field testing for OmniAir’s V2X and Tolling certification programs. Each device type has a unique set of testing requirements; therefore, field sites must be qualified for each device type independently.

Participating field sites will be eligible to work with OALT’s to perform certification testing to ensure interoperability and conformance to industry standards.

If you have a facility that would be a good candidate for this program, contact Ryan Hall, Senior Director of Business Development.

OmniAir offers testing for RFID single protocol tolling devices and DSRC-V2X connected vehicle devices.  OmniAir is preparing to launch two new certification programs this fall, one for RFID multi-protocol for tolling and the world’s first comprehensive certification program for C-V2X devices
