Last week, OmniAir Consortium® and the Intelligent Transportation Society of Korea (ITS Korea) signed a historic agreement that will ensure that OmniAir’s test specifications are used by ITS Korea to certify V2X devices for deployment in Korea. This is OmniAir’s first international license agreement. It serves to align the requirements for certifying DSRC devices in the United States and Korea, and will help to advance global interoperability for Connected Vehicle technologies.

The agreement also contemplates the creation of a joint certification mark indicating that devices are both OmniAir Certified® as well as certified by ITS Korea. ITS Korea is also joining OmniAir Consortium as an Executive Level Member.

“OmniAir Consortium is honored to partner with ITS Korea to promote certification and interoperability for connected vehicle technologies,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “We look forward to working hand-in-hand with our Korean partners to advance the deployment of these life-saving technologies around the world.”

This follows on a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organizations, executed in November of last year, pledging cooperation on promoting interoperability and alignment of V2X certification programs in Korea and in the United States. OmniAir and ITS Korea have formed a Cooperation Council that meets quarterly, helping to advance V2X interoperability and certification in both markets.

The signing ceremony took place Wednesday, June 12 at the aT Center in Seoul in conjunction with the ITS Korea C-ITS Division Meeting. Following the ceremony, OmniAir staff Randy Roebuck, Vice President of Engineering and Technical Programs, and Kate Oldham, Director of Member Services, presented to attendees of the C-ITS Division Meeting.

Kate Oldham, OmniAir’s Director of Member Services, met with OmniAir Members PentaSecurity, Keysight, Chemtronics, and Bureau Veritas Korea to further strengthen our ties with one of our fastest growing segments within our membership base.
