OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, is excited to announce the next event in the OmniAir Summer Series: “Truck Platooning: V2X Technology in Action.”

This policy roundtable will take place on Thursday, July 25 in Washington, DC.  The event is scheduled from 4:00 to 5:30 EDT, with a reception to follow.  Registration is available online.

OmniAir Summer Series events are designed to highlight how connected vehicle technology is being used today to save lives, to reduce congestion, and to improve the efficiency of our transportation system.  Many of these technologies are actively utilizing the 5.9 GHz Band—also known as the Safety Spectrum.

This event, focused on truck platooning, which uses Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications to connect the braking and acceleration systems between trucks, improving fuel efficiency and safety. Moderated by Pete Gould Founding Partner Shared Mobility Strategies along with key panelists to include:

  • Ken Leonard, Director, Intelligent Transportation Systems Joint Program Office, U.S. Department of Transportation
  • Jeff Loftus, Chief, Techolgy Division Office of Analysis, Research, and Technology, Federal Carrier Safety Administration
  • Steve Boyd, Co-Founder, VP External Affairs & Market Development, Peloton Technology, Inc.
  • Steve Novosad, Associate Vice President ITS, HNTB Corporation

Panelists will define platooning and the benefits it brings, while discussing pilots and operational deployments in truck platooning technology that are paving the way for more autonomous life saving developments.
