Last week, OmniAir held a very successful Plugfest at the world-class Mcity test facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Twenty-seven companies participated in the week-long connected vehicle testing event. The latest C-V2X radios underwent rigorous testing for conformance, interoperability, and security in laboratory and field environments. Participants had the opportunity to work with leading V2X testing experts from around the world.

The goal of OmniAir Plugfests is to help ensure devices conform to industry standards, are interoperable, and meet security and performance requirements.  Plugfest participation helps to ensure the readiness of C-V2X equipment for deployment on our roads and in our vehicles.

This OmniAir Plugfest saw participation from the U.S. Department of Transportation, three OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories, four SCMS providers, and multiple wireless and V2X test systems providers.

Participating C-V2X device manufacturers rotated between a dozen test stations, working collaboratively with testing experts to help test, debug, and improve their devices in a collaborative environment.

“It was exciting to see the energy and enthusiasm on display at this OmniAir Plugfest, said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “Engineers and developers from around the world collaborate and cooperate in an open environment, which makes OmniAir testing events unique. Only by working together can we help to ensure the availability of trusted communications technologies to make our roads and vehicles safe and reliable for everyone.”

The week featured a Connected Mobility Workshop, hosted in partnership with the University of Michigan Transportation Institute, and keynote speakers from the Michigan Department of Transportation and the University of Michigan’s Automotive Research Institute.

Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a “listening session” hosted by the U.S. Department of Transportation on the 2nd Report & Order and offer feedback on technical rules regarding the ITS band in the 5.9 GHz spectrum.

To all the participants of the 13th Plugfest, a heartfelt thank you for your invaluable contributions to this special event. For those who missed out, rest assured – the next Plugfest is scheduled for November, with the host location to be announced soon.

Don’t miss the chance to be part of this dynamic and impactful gathering, where you can work with leading experts, test and improve your devices, and ensure they meet the latest industry standards and requirements.
