OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announces that Unex has joined OmniAir® as an Associate Level Member.
Founded in 1997 in Taiwan, Unex Technology Corporation is a leading provider of pioneering V2X software and hardware solutions. Through various partnerships, they have identified ways to deploy V2X (DSRC and C-V2X) technology across various applications.
Unex also developed a highly integrated and user-friendly software development kit used by all Unex product families of System-on-Module (SOM), OBU, and RSU, including standard compliant V2X stack, advanced IEEE and ETSI communication security, and sample applications in source code.
Unex On-Board Units (OBUs) have been utilized in over 200 AV and C-ITS project deployments. Unex was the first to deploy C-V2X Roadside Units (RSUs) in a live field environment as part of the Taiwan Smart Transportation initiative.
“We are excited to welcome leading V2X technology provider like Unex as our newest OmniAir Member,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “We look forward to relying on their expertise and experience as we improve and expand our C-V2X certification programs worldwide.”
As a member of the OmniAir Consortium, Unex will help shape OmniAir’s test specifications and procedures by participating in technical committees and industry working groups. OmniAir’s goal is to ensure the availability of trusted communications devices that conform to industry standards and meet minimum interoperability and security requirements.
OmniAir offers independent, third-party testing and certification for tolling and connected vehicles, including DSRC and C-V2X (LTE-V2X PC5) radios.

OmniAir Urges FCC to Grant Waivers
On November 17, OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, met with Federal Communications Commission staff, urging the Commission to quickly grant multiple waiver requests to permit the deployment of Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything (C-V2X) devices, operating in the upper 30 megahertz portion of the 5.9 GHz Band.
In the ex parte meeting, OmniAir®reiterated its support for both the Joint Waiver Request for a nationwide waiver from a group of automakers, equipment manufacturers, and state departments of transportation, as well as requests by multiple transportation departments, including Georgia, Florida, and Maryland DOTs, for the issuance of waivers that would permit deployment of C-V2X OBUs and RSUs.
OmniAir provided the FCC an overview of our organization, membership, and ongoing efforts to enable “trusted communications” for C-V2X services.
In addition, OmniAir briefed the Commission on OmniAir’s independent third-party testing and certification program for C-V2X OBUs, RSUs, and modules. OmniAir also discussed the role certification and OmniAir Plugfest testing events play in ensuring C-V2X readiness for deployment.
“We urge the Commission to act quickly in granting the waiver requests,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir. “OmniAir is ready and willing to provide engineering resources to help overcome any outstanding questions to provide Commission confidence in granting C-V2X Waiver Requests.”
OmniAir Certification and Conformance Testing Program for C-V2X radio devices helps to realize these “trusted communications” between the roadside infrastructure, vehicles, and other transportation users to enhance public safety.
