Spotlight on Cybersecurity at OmniAir’s Motor City Plugfest
OmniAir Consortium’s Motor City Plugfest, the premier testing event for vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technologies, will include a focus on automotive cybersecurity and security testing for Connected Vehicle technologies.
The OmniAir event, hosted at Intertek’s facility in Plymouth, Michigan, and the American Center for Mobility’s test facility in Ypsilanti, Michigan will address a range of technical and policy issues related to V2X security, in addition to other aspects of DSRC V2X interoperability and conformance.
“OmniAir recognizes the importance of addressing V2X security for connected vehicle technologies as part of our testing and certification programs,” says Jason Conley, Executive Director, OmniAir Consortium. “OmniAir’s Motor City Plugfest will offer attendees the opportunity not just to hear from industry experts, but to actually engage in security testing for their devices and to participate in the creation of future certification programs.”
On Monday, May 7, OmniAir’s Connected Vehicle Workshop will include a panel discussion on V2X security. Moderated by David Olive of Catalyst Partners, this panel will explore government and industry efforts to cybersecurity for connected vehicles, including testing, certification, and voluntary guidelines. Panelists include Raymond Resendes, U.S. Department of Transportation; Kristina Pfosi, Global Vehicle Security, FCA Fiat Chrysler; John Neal, Business Development & Government Affairs; NXP, David Sequino, President, INTEGRITY Security Services; and Jaeson Yoo, Chief Security Evangelist, Penta Security.
On Wednesday, May 8, the U.S. Department of Transportation’s ITS Joint Program Office will host a Stakeholder Dialogue on the Future of a Large-Scale Deployment Security Credential Management System (SCMS). This will provide participants with insights into USDOT’s vision for the future of security and message authentication beyond the current system developed for the Connected Vehicle pilots. Joaquin Torrecilla Torregrosa from DEKRA will provide an in-depth discussion of security for V2X technologies around the world.
On Thursday, May 10, OmniAir’s Cybersecurity Working Group will hold an in-person meeting to discuss OmniAir’s plans for incorporating device security testing into its DSRC V2X Certification Program. The Working Group includes representatives from leading test labs, device manufacturers, cryptography experts, and others. Participation is open to all OmniAir members and invited guests.
Throughout the week, OmniAir will provide participants over 400 test sessions with 15 leading test labs and test tool providers for intensive bench conformance, interoperability, and field testing, including testing stations dedicated to IEEE 1609.2 security testing.
INTEGRITY Security Services will be issuing Plugfest certificates for all devices and test tool providers. In addition, other certificate providers will have security certificates available for testing, including ESRCYPT, Penta Security, and Blackberry/Certicom.
