OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announces that Transcore, a pioneer in the use of RFID in the toll industry, has earned OmniAir Certification® for its Encompass® 6 Multiprotocol Reader.
As more and more municipalities and states add electronic toll systems to highways, bridges, and tunnels, and convert HOV lanes to HOT lanes, having a transponder that can go “anywhere” the vehicle goes is a significant benefit for both drivers and commercial transportation companies, said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir®. “OmniAir Certification provides assurance to deploying agencies that devices conform to industry standards and meet minimum interoperability and performance requirements.”
TransCore’s Multiprotocol Reader is a fully integrated, self-contained 915 MHz wireless radio frequency identification (RFID) reader designed for high-performance open road tolling and certified for the ISO/IEC 18000-63 (6C) protocol.
OmniAir Certification offers independent, third-party testing and certification for RFID tolling tags and readers, as well as connected vehicle technologies, including both C-V2X and DSRC OBUs and RSUs.
