Telecommunications Technology Association to Offer RSU Testing
OmniAir Consortium®, the leading global industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles are excited to announce that Korea’s Telecommunications Technology Association (TTA) is now authorized to offer testing to vehicle-to-everything (V2X) for Roadside Units (RSU’s).
TTA is the first OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory (OATL) authorized to test RSUs in Asia, and only the third in the world. Since its founding in 1988, TTA has contributed to the advancement in related industries by way of standardization efforts and testing and certification services in the field of information and communication. TTA’s test facility in Suwon, Korea, just 19 miles south of Seoul, has been authorized for On Board Unit (OBU) testing since last year.
“OmniAir is proud to partner with TTA on this important certification testing program,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “With today’s announcement, OmniAir will now offer certification testing for RSU’s in North America, Europe, and Asia, serving the growing global market for connected vehicle and infrastructure technologies.”
OmniAir offers third-party testing and certification for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) devices, using accredited laboratories and validated test cases. OmniAir Certified® devices conform to industry standards and meet minimum interoperability and security requirements. OmniAir Certification is relied on by infrastructure owner-operators and automotive OEMs seeking to deploy trusted communications technologies.
First launched in 2017, OmniAir’s DSRC-V2X certification program is the first of its kind in the world. OmniAir plans to launch a new certification program vehicle-to-everything (C-V2X) radios in the fall of 2020. OmniAir has also partnered with ITS Korea to offer certification for devices deployed in projects in Korea.

OmniAir Now Offering Certification Reservations for Dual-Use V2X Devices
OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, is now accepting advanced reservations for dual-use roadside units (RSUs), that include both Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) radios, as well as Cellular V2X (C-V2X) radios. Advanced registrations are also being accepted for standalone C-V2X devices.
Additional information about program requirements are available on our website.
OmniAir® has offered certification for DSRC-V2X devices since 2017, preparing to launch the world’s first comprehensive certification program for C-V2X devices (PC5), which will launch on or around October 1.
“OmniAir has set in motion a plan that will deliver the world’s first comprehensive certification program for C-V2X devices by the third quarter of 2020,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir Consortium. “This new program will help to meet the growing demand by deploying agencies for trusted communications devices for connected vehicle and connected infrastructure.”
The OmniAir C-V2X Certification program will ensure that trusted C-V2X devices conform with industry standards, and meet minimal interoperability, security, and performance requirements.
Those applying early will receive priority for certification testing, as well as a letter from OmniAir confirming that their device(s) have entered the certification testing process.
