OmniAir Consortium®, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for ITS, tolling, and connected vehicles, announces the first 10 test station providers for our upcoming OmniAir Costa del Sol Plugfest in Málaga, Spain.

This is the second OmniAir® Plugfest held in Europe and hosted by DEKRA! The readiness testing event will feature comprehensive conformance, security, interoperability, security, and field performance testing for C-V2X radios, modules, and V2X safety applications.

Initial participating test station providers include:

Devices under test will have access to over 300 individual test cases developed for the OmniAir Certification Program.  The test cases are grounded by the following standards:

  • 761-3GPP (3GPP LTE-V Radio Release 14)
  • 762-J3161/1 (LTE-V2X V2V Minimum Performance: Radio Behavior & Message Profiles)
  • 763-1609.2 (WAVE Security Services)
  • 765-1609.3 (WAVE Networking Services – WSM, WSA & IP)
  • 767-J2945/1 (V2V Minimum Performance – Bench)
  • 768-J2945/1A (V2V BSM Minimum Performance – Field)
  • 770-RSU (RSU 4.1 Procedure adapted for C-V2X)
  • 781-OA-TSS&TP-V2XHUB
  • 782-OA-TSS&TP-MAP MAP Message Transmission
  • 783-OA-TSS&TP-SPAT SPaT Message Transmission
  • 780a-OA-TSS&TP-V2VApps V2V Applications Set
  • 780b-OA-TSS&TP-V2IApps V2I or I2V Applications Set

For field testing, there are are 11 V2X safety applications that can be performed including:  Emergency Electronic Brake (EEBL), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW), Lane Change Assist (LCA), Intersection Movement Assist (IMA), Red Light Violation Warning (RLVW), Lane Closure Work Zone (LCWZ), Pedestrian Safety Message (PSM), Reduce Speed Work Zone (RSWZ), Spot Weather Warning (SWW) and Wrong Way Driver Alert (WWDA).

For the first time, OmniAir will offer full-stack certification testing against North American, European, and Chinese specifications.  This OmniAir Plugfest will be a one-stop shop for vendors to test and ensure that their C-V2X devices are ready to deploy.  In addition, OmniAir test stations will offer bench and field testing against popular “use cases” and V2X safety applications in each of the three regions.

Five testing slots remain if you are interested in joining Capgemini, Commsignia, Danlaw, Harman, IT-Telecom, LG Innotek, and Yunex Traffic

These seven companies have registered 12 separate C-V2X On-Board Units (OBU), Roadside Units (RSU), and modules.  Remaining testing slots are expected to fill up quickly.

OmniAir’s Executive Director, Jason Conley, was invited to present at last month’s U.S. Department of Transportation’s V2X Summit, where he emphasized the important role OmniAir Plugfests played in maturing C-V2X technology, building trust in the technology, and in helping move from demonstration and pilot projects to full deployment.

“OmniAir Plugfests bring together the global C-V2X testing ecosystem to test and to learn in an open and cooperative environment, said Jason Conley, Executive Director of OmniAir Consortium. “This Plugfest comes at a crucial time as V2X deployers, flush with grant funding, are are seeking trusted connected vehicle solutions that are ready to deploy.”

If you are planning on attending, please register as soon as possible. Plugfest planning meetings are already taking place for registered guests. If you would like to be added or add a colleague to the planning meetings, email Ryan Hall, Vice President of Business Development.
