The V2X Application Testing working group is designed to advance certification testing for applicable V2X applications and use cases by identifying and developing bench and field certification test cases for conformance and interoperability. Tom Timcho of HNTB has been appointed to chair the working group.

Tom’s technical expertise spans all aspects of ITS and connected vehicle (CV) environments, including standards, architecture, in-vehicle infrastructure, and back-office technologies. His work currently focuses on CV technologies, including the operational and safety elements, interoperability, and integration with existing ITS practices and technologies.

“Tom is the perfect choice to lead the working group forward,” said Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir Consortium. “Under Tom’s guidance, we hope to expand our current set of V2X applications and develop a certification framework for these vital safety applications.

OmniAir has successfully demonstrated a set of V2X applications, including emergency Electronic Brake Light (EEBL), Emergency Vehicle Priority (EVP), Red Light Violation Warning (RLVW), Spot Weather, Pedestrian in Cross Walk, and Lane Closure Work Zone (LCWZ) at the past two OmniAir Plugfest events.
