Heading into OmniAir Consortium’s Motor City Plugfest, Intertek, a leading Total Quality Assurance provider to industries worldwide, and Plugfest host has been authorized by the OmniAir Consortium to conduct testing for our dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) vehicle-to-everything (V2X) certification program. With this approval, Intertek becomes one of only three OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories (OATLs) under the program.
OmniAir’s certification program provides accredited third-party laboratory testing and validation of DSRC-based V2X devices, ensuring that manufacturers, suppliers and automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) develop products that conform to industry standards and specifications to ensure trusted device communications. It is the first global program to certify DSRC V2X technology.
DSRC is wireless technology that allows automobiles to communicate with each other, as well as related infrastructure, such as stop lights, emergency vehicles or other smart devices.

Automotive manufacturers and suppliers are invited to speak with the Intertek, and our other OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratories during the Motor City Plugfest, which takes place from May 7-11 at Intertek’s facility in Plymouth, Michigan and the American Center for Mobility proving grounds In Ypsilanti Township. DEKRA has been active in the field of safety for more than 90 years and is one of the world’s leading expert organizations in testing, inspection, and certification. DEKRA’s laboratory and connected car test area based in Malaga, Spain is now an OmniAir Authorized Test Laboratory (OATL) for Dedicated Short-Range Communications (DSRC) technology and our first European based laboratory.

At DEKRA’s Malaga test facility they have an impressive connected car test area, where DEKRA exercises scenarios using V2X technology for safety applications such as forward collision warnings, ‘heavy braking ahead,’ intersection collision warnings and road-side infrastructure warnings. The test track includes a 90-meter tunnel, simulated cityscape with intersections and curves.

OmniAir Announces Testing Schedule for Motor City Plugfest
OmniAir Consortium, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for Connected Vehicles, tolling and ITS, has announced its testing schedule and parallel technical sessions for Motor City Plugfest, the week of May 7th, in Plymouth, MI.
Hosted by Intertek and the American Center for Mobility at Willow Run, this is the premier testing event for Connected Vehicles. OmniAir Consortium’s Motor City Plugfest will offer vendors intensive, week-long V2X device testing, including lab conformance, interoperability, security, and field performance testing. With fifteen world-renowned test laboratories and test systems providers on hand to provide participants with a unique, one-of-a-kind testing experience.
Device manufacturers considering applying for OmniAir Certification for their DSRC-V2X devices are strongly encouraged to participate. Suppliers, OEMs, chipset manufacturers, and transportation agencies planning V2V and V2I projects will benefit from attending.
OmniAir will offer over 400 lab and field test sessions, across 15 test stations, allowing vendors to test their devices with multiple test labs and test tool providers. Also, for the first time, OmniAir will include a test station dedicated to C-V2X devices.

NOTE: OmniAir will schedule devices for testing on a first-come, first-serve basis. So, if you have not yet registered, please do so before April 30 to preserve your test slots.

OmniAir Announces Speakers for Motor City Plugfest
OmniAir Consortium, the leading industry association promoting interoperability and certification for Connected Vehicles, tolling, and ITS, announces its lineup of speakers for the Motor City Plugfest, May 7-11 in Plymouth, MI.
Monday, May 7 features a Connected Vehicle Workshop. Keynote speakers include Kirk Steudle, Director of Michigan Department of Transportation, and Marcus Welz, CEO of Siemens ITS.
OmniAir’s featured luncheon speaker will be Mark de la Vergne, Chief of Mobility Innovation for the City of Detroit, who will discuss the advances in shared, autonomous, and connected vehicle development in the region, that have many calling Detroit the “Silicon Valley of Smart Mobility Technology.”
OmniAir also has lined up four panels to discuss technical and policy issues related to Connected Vehicle Testing and Deployment, Automotive Cybersecurity, V2X Around the World, and Future Trends, including C-V2X, connected roads, and shared autonomous vehicles. Speakers from USDOT ITS Joint Program Office, Utah DOT, NXP, DEKRA, Panasonic, 3M, Qualcomm, ITS Korea, and many more V2X technology leaders will round out the first day.

This workshop will be followed by 4 days of intensive bench conformance, interoperability, and field testing of V2X devices at Intertek’s laboratory in Plymouth, MI and the American Center for Mobility’s Willow Run Test Facility in Ypsilanti, MI.
Over 400 test sessions will be available for vendors to conduct tests of DSRC devices, operated by staff from 15 leading test laboratories and test tool providers from around the world. In a first for the industry, OmniAir will also include testing stations for C-V2X devices.
“OmniAir’s goal is to ensure that there is a robust marketplace of trusted communications devices that are certified for conformance and interoperability,” says Jason Conley, Executive Director for OmniAir Consortium. “OmniAir’s Motor City Plugfest provides a unique opportunity for vendors to test their devices with representatives of leading test labs and test systems providers from around the world, to prepare for certification testing.”
In addition, OmniAir has planned parallel technical sessions throughout the week. When not in testing sessions, attendees can enjoy continuous learning on technical topics, including the Connected Vehicle pilots, security certificates and libraries, standards, software testing, and demonstrations of new test tools.
On Wednesday, May 9, U.S. Department of Transportation’s ITS Joint Program Office will host a stakeholder dialog session on the future of the National SCMS. On Thursday, May 10, OmniAir will host in-person meetings of our certification, technical, and cybersecurity working groups.
OmniAir Consortium’s last Plugfest in October drew 170 attendees from around the world, testing 37 V2X devices. This event promises to be even larger, with over 400 testing sessions, 15 test stations, as well as new security and field testing.

Position Overview:
OmniAir Consortium, Inc. is a fast-growing 501 (c)(6) trade association, with a focus on technology and transportation.
We are seeking a self-motivated, positive attitude team player for the position of bookkeeper/administrative assistant to join our team. This is a full-time position with immediate start. The ideal candidate will need to have excellent organization, analytical, verbal and written communication skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
The salary range is $45,000 to $50,000 based on experience. We offer a benefits package which includes paid time-off, holidays, dental, life, and health insurance and flexible work hours.
Job Responsibilities:
- Complete monthly and yearly financial statements.
- Complete daily accounting transactions to include accounts payable, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, payroll entries and other entries as needed.
- Maintain monthly account reconciliations.
- Invoicing accounts receivable in a timely manner
- Process year-end
- Leadership role to assist external audit firm in the annual financial review and completion of the annual 990 tax return.
- Maintain financial records by filing and scanning invoices, bills and correspondence relating to financial issues.
- Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Accounting/Finance.
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal communications skills and customer-facing experience.
- A minimum of four years of experience processing financial statements, accounting transactions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and cash disbursements.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook is required.
- Background check required if selected.
